TEDxLogan Circle Awarded District Bridges Small Business Grant to Fuel Community Revitalization and Strengthen Existing Local Partnerships

WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 25, 2025 – TEDxLogan Circle announced today it has been awarded a $5,000 FY25 Small Business Grant from District Bridges’ Logan Circle Main Street. This funding, allocated for the period of June 1 to September 15, 2025, will directly support the organization’s event planning and community initiatives. A core component of the grant will prioritize the procurement of food, beverages, and services from the fifteen Logan Circle businesses that have previously partnered with TEDxLogan Circle, serving as an investment in these established collaborations and recognizing their ongoing support.

The grant underscores TEDxLogan Circle’s commitment to fostering local economic growth and strengthening existing community ties. By investing directly in these established Logan Circle partners, TEDxLogan Circle aims to create impactful public engagements, enhance team development, and prominently market these valued collaborators to a broader audience.

“This funding represents a significant investment in Logan Circle’s core,” stated Monica Kang, Executive Director and License Holder of TEDxLogan Circle. “It allows us to directly support the local businesses that are integral to our community, fostering both the TEDx experience and the economic vitality of the neighborhood. We view this as a strategic recognition of their ongoing contributions.”

The grant funds will be meticulously allocated across various categories, with a primary focus on food, beverage, and services sourced from these 14 committed local Logan Circle businesses. Key partners include:

  • Bluemercury
  • Brooklinen
  • Call Your Mother Deli
  • Compass Coffee
  • Doi Moi
  • Logan 14 Aveda Salon & Spa
  • Logan Hardware
  • Nail Saloon
  • Red Light Bar & Detroit Pizza
  • Room & Board
  • Slipstream
  • South Block
  • Sweetgreen

A significant portion of the grant will also support professional photo and video documentation of TEDxLogan Circle’s initiatives, including a “Logan Circle Love Letter” project. This will feature a summary video documentary shared at the main event on August 14, 2025, and subsequently on TEDxLogan Circle’s YouTube and Instagram channels. Additionally, original B-roll footage and photos will be provided directly to participating businesses for their own marketing efforts, further amplifying their reach. Make A Scene Media and Patrick Tighe Studios will take part in this project with TEDxLogan Circle.

The Council of Korean Americans (CKA), a 501(c)(3) organization, serves as the fiscal nonprofit sponsor for TEDxLogan Circle for 2024-2025.

TEDxLogan Circle’s main event, themed ‘Rethink Courage,’ is scheduled for August 14, 2025, at the National Housing Center and is open to all. This impactful day will celebrate the importance of courage in its many forms and offer a dynamic platform for attendees and partners to connect with Logan Circle businesses, communities, and fellow community builders. About TED:

TED is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to discovering, debating and spreading ideas that spark conversation, deepen understanding and drive meaningful change. Our organization is devoted to curiosity, reason, wonder and the pursuit of knowledge—without an agenda. We welcome people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world and connection with others, and we invite everyone to engage with ideas and activate them in your community.

TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, but today it spans a multitude of worldwide communities and initiatives exploring everything from science and business to education, arts and global issues. In addition to the TED Talks curated from our annual conferences and published on TED.com, we produce original podcasts, short video series, animated educational lessons (TED-Ed) and TV programs that are translated into more than 100 languages and distributed via partnerships around the world. Each year, thousands of independently run TEDx events bring people together to share ideas and bridge divides in communities on every continent. Through the Audacious Project, TED has helped catalyze more than $3 billion in funding for projects that seek to make the world more beautiful, sustainable and just. In 2020, TED launched Countdown, an initiative to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis and mobilize a movement for a net-zero future, and in 2023 TED launched TED Democracy to spark a new kind of conversation focused on realistic pathways towards a more vibrant and equitable future.
