Jeremy Mann, CEO

What does the Washington D.C. community mean to you?

Washington D.C., my hometown, is home to one of the largest deaf communities in the world. This vibrant city is a hub of diversity, filled with people driven to make a global impact.

What fun facts may your fans and customers be surprised to learn about?

Hands in Motion has provided interpreters for the past four U.S. presidents.

Why do you think highlighting community innovators is important?

Highlighting community innovators is important because it brings attention to individuals who drive positive change and inspire others. It fosters a sense of pride and unity within the community, encourages creative problem-solving, and motivates others to contribute their own talents and ideas.

Why was your company created? What is “your why”?

I founded Hands in Motion because, having grown up in the deaf community, I recognized the urgent need for a bridge in communication.

What are the key trends shaping the future of your industry? What are you excited about, and what are you worried about?

The most significant trend in the interpretation industry today is AI, which brings both excitement and concern. AI can expand access to interpretation services in previously underserved areas. However, I am concerned about its potential impact on the well-established community of interpreters.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I've learned is that the most valuable mistakes to learn from are those made by others. By studying where others have failed, you can avoid making the same errors and navigate your path more effectively.

What drives you to do what you do?

What drives me is my love for people and community. My philosophy is rooted in the belief that everyone is doing their best, and I prioritize putting people first in all my endeavors.

What advice would you share with those who want to build a meaningful business like you?

For those aspiring to build a meaningful business, my advice is to stay true to your passion and values. Understand the needs of your community and focus on creating solutions that genuinely help. Learn from the mistakes of others, seek mentorship, and always prioritize people over profit. Consistency, resilience, and a strong ethical foundation are key to making a lasting impact.
