What does the Washington D.C. community mean to you?

Growing up in Northern Virginia, next to D.C., I always saw it as representing a melting pot of cultures, ideas, and histories. It’s a place where the past and present converge. But beyond the physical space, the D.C. community represents a network of support. Whether it's through networking events, skill-sharing sessions, or simply sharing a cup of coffee in our communal areas, our members uplift and empower one another.

How is your company rethinking innovation?

We continuously explore new techniques and tools to push the boundaries of visual storytelling. With technology advancing further than it has ever been before, oftentimes it’s now a battle with creativity versus AI to a certain degree, but why not use AI as a tool to enhance creativity?

What fun facts may your fans and customers be surprised to learn about?

I speak four languages and can play the bagpipes.

Why do you think highlighting community innovators is important?

Highlighting community innovators is crucial because these individuals drive positive change and inspire others. As a photographer rooted in storytelling, we believe in the power of showcasing the people who are making a difference.

What is one thing you wish others understood more about you?

The profound impact my dual cultural identity has on my perspective and self.

What podcasts/books/movies do you like to watch for new inspiration?

Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl.

What drives you to do what you do?

I’ve always loved looking at photos from “back when.” I’m glad that I am able to do that now.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Get really, really good at things other people won’t do or don’t want to do.

What does being an effective leader mean to you?

The ability to guide, inspire, and influence others to achieve common goals. It is “easier” to be a boss by dictating, but there is real skill and talent for someone to be able to lead.

As a first-generation Asian American, my journey has been marked by challenges in communication and identity. Growing up, I constantly grappled with the complexities of blending two cultures, often feeling caught between them. This unique perspective fueled my passion for photography, where I am able to find a universal language to bridge divides and tell compelling stories through photos.
