What does the Washington D.C. community mean to you?

The Washington DC community is the very essence of what we do. Being situated in D.C. means being at the hub of activity, where professionals from all walks of life converge to work, connect, and create. But beyond the physical space, the D.C. community represents a network of support. Whether it's through networking events, skill-sharing sessions, or simply sharing a cup of coffee in our communal areas, our members uplift and empower one another.

How is your company rethinking innovation?

At Industrious, we're always rethinking how we do things, from how we sell to how we run our coworking spaces. The way we work is always changing, and we want to stay ahead of the game. We're constantly looking for ways to give our members what they need to succeed, meeting them right where they are. It's all about staying flexible and making sure we're on the ball, so our members can focus on what matters most to them.

What fun facts may your fans and customers be surprised to learn about?

Industrious is a global brand with an expansive network of over 160 locations spanning 65 cities worldwide. Founded in 2012 by two childhood friends who recognized a gap in the market while members of other coworking spaces, Industrious was born from their shared vision of creating a better workspace experience.

Why do you think highlighting community innovators is important?

Highlighting community innovators is crucial for inspiring others, building connections, recognizing achievements, and promoting the coworking industry. It fosters a supportive environment, encourages collaboration, and enhances the reputation of coworking as a whole, ultimately driving growth and attracting new members.

Why is your development in DC important for you and your company?

The Washington D.C. area holds significant importance for us. During my time with Industrious in the D.C. area it has become clear that the transient nature of this city also offers a distinct advantage. Since D.C. is a hub of national and global significance, it attracts a diverse array of businesses and professionals within a relatively small area. As a result, companies frequently seek to establish a foothold here, recognizing its importance on both domestic and international fronts.

What is something many people may not think about when they think of D.C. that they should?

Washington D.C. is often seen as just a political hub, but there's a whole other side to it that many people miss out on. One thing I love about this city is how bike-friendly it is. The Capital Bike Share network here is huge with over 600 stations across the DMV. I often see people biking to work every day, and on weekends, the trails around the DMV are very popular. Here's a fun fact: you can actually bike to all of our Industrious locations in the DMV using the Capital Bike Share bikes. I've personally done it, biking home from each spot.

What is your favorite local business in D.C. or Logan Circle?

I personally am a huge fan of Call Your Mother! They originally started in Petworth but they have a location in Logan Circle now as well and it is my favorite weekend treat for myself. Some of our Industrious locations actually partner with their local Call Your Mother to provide bagels for our members on certain days and they are always a hit.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Something that always sticks with me is a famous quote from Maya Angelou; “I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." That has been great advice that I keep in the back of my mind at all times, especially since I am in the hospitality industry.
