What does the Washington D.C. community mean to you?

I have been in the D.C. area nearly my whole life, so most importantly, it is truly home to me. It has been exciting to meet and work with a wide variety of professionals in a diverse set of fields, including government, non-profit, associations, and various private industries.

What fun facts may your fans and customers be surprised to learn about?

Prior to working as a photographer, I worked as a Business Systems Analyst, primarily in the identity and access management space. So I am very tech-savvy and have lots of professional experience working with business leaders to help optimize user experiences and business systems. I am a big coffee nerd with at least half a dozen coffee-making contraptions. I grind my own coffee and make an espresso nearly every day.

Why do you think highlighting community innovators is important?

When most people think of innovation, they probably think of Silicon Valley. I think it's important to highlight that innovation happens everywhere and that innovation is not just microchips, apps, and software services.

Why was your company created? What is “your why”?

My younger life was focused on the arts. I took every art, graphic design, and photography class I could in high school. In college, I got a business degree. I love being able to combine those skills to create a service that helps people. My first professional headshot helped me tremendously in my career, and I am excited to help others have that same experience.

What is your favorite advice on how to manage your time and energy?

My favorite book on this topic is called “The Goal” by Eli Goldratt. It's a fictional novel that is used to illustrate principles. In general, I learned to focus my time and energy on any bottlenecks holding me or my business back. I look to automate or streamline bottlenecks as best as possible.

What is your favorite local business in D.C. or Logan Circle?

With D.C. offering so many amazing businesses, it’s really hard to choose just one. I really love the Dupont Farmers Market every Sunday, which has a whole myriad of D.C. area businesses attending. As a coffee fanatic, I also really love some of the local coffee shops in the area, like Emissary Coffee, Dolcezza, and Compass Coffee.
